ACLS is an advanced, Instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. In this course, skills are taught in group sessions and small group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented. ACLS emphasizes the importance of basic life support CPR to patient survival; the integration of effective basic life support with advanced cardiovascular life support interventions. Students in advanced life support courses are not required to have a current BLS Healthcare Provider (HCP) card, but they are expected to be proficient in BLS HCP skills.
Who Should Take This Course? This course is for any healthcare professional and medical personnel who may respond to a cardiovascular emergency, who have taken an ACLS class within the past two years. Students must have a valid ACLS card. Students in advanced life support courses are not required to have a current BLS Healthcare Provider (HCP) card, but they are expected to be proficient in BLS HCP skills.
